Privacy Policy

This notice applies across all websites that The Woodlands Preparatory School LLC owns and operates and all services we provide (our “services”).

When we say “personal data” we mean identifiable information about you, like your name, email, address, phone number, payment information, support inquiries, and so on. If you cannot  be identified (for example, your personal data has been aggregated and anonymized) then this notice does not apply.

We may update this policy from time to time and without prior notice to you by publishing a new version on our website. By accessing or using the website you are accepting and consenting to the practices described in this privacy policy. It is your responsibility to review this policy and if you do not agree with the terms of this policy or any updates, you should cease using this site. Where there is a significant change to this policy, we may notify you by email.

Age Limitations

Our website and services are targeted to people 18 years or older.

If you learn that anyone younger than 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and if we have reason to believe that we hold personal data of a person under that age in our databases we will delete that data.

Who “We” Are

When we refer to “we” (“our” or “us”), we mean The Woodlands Preparatory School LLC, and our websites. We are headquartered in the United States.

How We Collect Your Data

When you visit our website, we collect personal data. The ways we collect it, can be broadly categorized into the following:

Information you provide to us directly: When you visit or use some parts of our website we might ask you to provide personal data. For example, we ask for your contact information when you interact with us on social media, contact us with questions or request information from the School. If you do not want to provide us with personal data, you do not have to, but it might mean you will not be able to use some parts of our website.

The Table located at the end of this Privacy Policy sets out the categories of personal data you provide to us and that we receive from other sources and how we use that information. The table also lists the legal basis which we rely on to process the personal information and information as to how we determine applicable retention periods.

Information we collect automatically: We collect some information about you automatically when you visit our website, like your IP address and device type. We also collect information when you navigate through our websites and services, including what pages you looked at and what links you clicked on. This information is useful for us as it helps us get a better understanding of how you are using our website so that we can continue to provide the best experience possible (e.g., by customizing content).

Some of this information is collected using cookies and similar tracking technologies. If you want to find out more about the types of cookies we use, why, and how you can control them, please view our Cookie Policy.

Cookie Policy

A cookie is a small piece of information that is stored on a computer to identify that browser during the interaction of the user with a website. Cookies can be used to store identifiers and user preferences. A browser permits a website to access only the cookies it has set, not those that are set by other websites.

We use a few cookies on our website for different purposes, but not to collect information about the users or their behavior. Some, or all, of the cookies identified below may be stored in your browser. You are able to view and manage cookies through your browser (though mobile browsers may not offer this visibility).

We use cookies for the two following purposes:

1) Security

We use security cookies to authenticate users. For example, in password protected areas (teacher only areas) we maintain a cookie containing the randomly created ID to identify the user's session. This helps us to prevent fraudulent use of login credentials, and protect user data from unauthorized parties.

We use a cookie to identify a workstation (not user), to locate the compromised machine from which a fraudulent email was sent to a staff member of the school. Blocking this cookie should not prevent the website from working.

2) Processes

Process cookies help make the website work and deliver services that the website visitor expects, such as navigating around web pages or accessing secure areas of the website. Without these cookies, the website cannot function properly.

For example, we use a cookie that allows a user to purchase items from our online store and make donations. Blocking this cookie would prevent this specific section of the website for which the cookie is used from working correctly.

Information we get from third parties: The majority of information we collect directly from you. Sometimes we might collect personal data about you from other sources, such as publicly available materials or trusted third parties like our marketing and research partners. We use this information to supplement the personal data we already hold about you, in order to better inform, personalize and improve our services, and to validate the personal data you provide.

Where we collect personal data, we’ll only process it:

  • To perform a contract with you, or

  • Where we have legitimate interests to process the personal data and they are not overridden by your rights, or

  • In accordance with a legal obligation, or

  • Where we have your consent.

If we don’t collect your personal data, we may be unable to provide you with all our services, and some functions and features on our websites may not be available to you.
