The Woodlands Preparatory School opened its facility in 2002 and was founded as a college-preparatory day school. The first senior class graduated in May 2008, and since then, our graduates have consistently earned admission to their top-choice colleges. In 2013 The Woodlands Preparatory School came under new ownership. The new leadership introduced a new approach to the stakeholders, the International Baccalaureate.
In 2015, with the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Program and Diploma Program already in place, we obtained the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program. The Woodlands Preparatory School was at that time the only IB Continuum School in the Houston area and one of only four in Texas.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused an immediate drop in face-to-face enrollment due to State and Federal lockdowns. COVID-19 created a need for asynchronous delivery of our educational service. During the last couple of years, our student population has dropped to its lowest point due to international households returning to their home countries.
The Woodlands Prep High School Online developed out of a high demand in some Latin American countries for access to a U.S. high school diploma. The Woodlands Online High School curriculum is a U.S.-based curriculum certified by the state of Texas (TEA).
With the commitment of an outstanding faculty, a wonderful community of supportive parents, and a group of talented, motivated students, we have embarked on a unique educational adventure, creating a school unlike any other. We are creating a school where students can learn the skills and attitudes they need to be global citizens. This is the place for students who want to be the makers of their futures and the builders of a better world.
