WHAT A WAY TO WIN!!!!!!! I’m sure your kids have filled you in, but it was INCREDIBLE!!!! It was a highly emotional game as we had the lead and gave it up twice at the end of regulation and at the end of overtime, only to make all 5 penalty kicks to win and punch our ticket to the Final Four. There were so many tremendous plays throughout the game: Stephan Para Robles scores in overtime to take the lead, Jacob blocks a penalty kick in overtime, Jacob blocks another penalty kick, and all 5 players chosen in the shootout made their shots (Adam, Matt, Alex, Aleksander, and Blaschke) with Andrew Blaschke making the final shot! The players and I rushed the field in excitement.
It was a game that our players will remember for a long, long time.
Friday morning we will head to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX to play in the Final Four. We will need all players to arrive at 7:00am in order to leave WPS by 7:30. I would like for the players to eat beforehand or bring breakfast with them in order to save time on the drive. They can also bring powerbars or granola bars to eat before the game. Our game Friday starts at 12:00, but we’d like to be there a little early to watch the game played before ours. The winner of that game will face the winner of our game in the championship at the same field Saturday morning at 11:00am.
I will send hotel information to you as soon as I receive confirmation. The hotel rooms will be funded by the school, but players can bring spending money as we will most likely go to a movie or something casual Friday evening. Win or lose on Friday, we plan to stay the night.

It was another great game played by our varsity soccer team on Saturday; one that will be remembered as our first soccer District Championship!!! If you missed it, our players battled back from a 0-2 deficit in the second half to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime, where we won 4-3!!!!
Attached you’ll find the TAPPS 1A-3A state tournament bracket. Woodlands Prep has moved up this year from a 1A school to a 2A school based on our increased enrollment. We compete in fall soccer against schools that are typically larger than we are, yet we have proven to be just as strong.
With Saturday’s win, we have earned a bye in the 1st round and will play in the Area round this coming Friday. The game will be held at home on the WPS field (game time TBD). That game is in the round of sixteen and if we win we will play Tuesday 10/23 at a neutral site in the elite eight-round. If we can win both of those games we will return to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor for the Final Four of the state tournament!!! We have our work cut out for us; however, our focus will be on Friday’s game against the Dallas Cambridge School.
