The golfers did great at their tournament yesterday! We tied for third as a team, Andrew Blaschke took second just one stroke off the winning score as an individual, and Sandy held her own as our female team member, placing in the top half of scorers. Andrew also won the first Whataburger card giveaway, having beat his teammates by more than the prescribed handicap. All teammates gave it their best, and had improved scores to prove it.
The district tournament is next week. This tournament serves both as our district and regionals tournament since the number of schools in our region is low. Our region actually stretches to Boerne, west of San Antonio, so the tournament is held in San Antonio on the Salado course at Fort Sam Houston Golf Course. The tournament will be held one day earlier due to a course conflict. We tee off Wednesday, April 4, at 12:30. We will travel there Tuesday morning so that we can get a practice round in at the course we are playing. Last year we played in a preliminary invitational tournament held there in order to get to know the course. This time we elected to curtail our travel amount by instead playing in a practice round the day before. We will therefore leave here Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM. We should return Wednesday night at about 10:00 PM. We will be taking the school bus, and Mr. Kemp will drive.
