General Information

Facilities:

Our 72,000 square foot facility is conveniently located off Kuykendahl Road on eighteen acres wooded land. The building features over thirty spacious classrooms with oversized television monitors and projectors for classroom use. Located on both floors are college-style lecture ha classrooms for large group instruction. The school features three modern science labs, including a chemistry lab and a biology lab, a soccer field, lighted tennis courts, and an outdoor science astronomy observatory. Two full sized, fully equipped gymnasiums allow every student opportunities for enrichment in athletics and other academic events. The school also includes two high-tech computer labs, a music room, two cafeterias, and an open commons area. Surrounding this world class facility is a remarkably beautiful campus in a natural setting.

School Day:

The school day begins at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 3:00 P.M.

Dress Code:

School uniforms are to be worn daily and may be purchased through Lands’ End, Inc. Casual dress day and spirit day will be scheduled periodically.

Accreditation and Membership:

The Woodlands Preparatory School is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The school is also an International Baccalaureate PYP Candidate School and a member of the Texas Association of Non-Public Schools (TANS), the Educational Records Bureau (ERB), the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), and Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS).

How to Apply

Tour:

Parents and students who wish to tour the campus and visit our classrooms are welcome. This can be an opportunity for you to learn about the programs of The Woodlands Preparatory School and ask any questions you may have. Please call the office at 281-516-0600 to schedule a tour/visit.

Middle and Upper School Conference:

Prior to submitting an application for grades 6-12, the Head of School or Curriculum Director will meet with you to introduce our curriculum and answer any questions you may have.

Application:

We kindly ask that you please complete and submit the application, along with the $250.00 non-refundable application fee to the office. It is helpful to submit applications as early as possible in the fall preceding the year of desired entry to The Woodlands Preparatory School so that all testing dates and necessary appointments may be scheduled in a timely fashion.

Teacher Recommendation:

A teacher recommendation form is included in this packet. This form may be completed by your child’s current teacher. All information provided by teachers is treated confidentially. Please ask that the teachers mail this form directly to our school. Two recommendations (math and English) are required for students applying for grades 6-12.

Transcript:

A Transcript Request form is included in this packet. Please provide a copy of your child's most recent report card and a copy of TAKS scores or a recent achievement test score.

Testing:

Once we have received a student’s application form, testing dates will be scheduled.

Notification:

After our Admission Committee has reviewed all applications and in-house testing information, we will notify you of our admission decision by mail. All applicants will be treated fairly and without bias.

Tuition and Fees

Application Fee:

A non-refundable application fee of $250.00 is due at the time the application is submitted.

Elementary and Middle School Tuition:

A $1,650.00 non-refundable enrollment deposit is payable upon registration at the school. This deposit is applied against the tuition over the course of the academic year.

High School Tuition:

* It is our commitment and goal to manage The Woodlands Preparatory School in such a way as to provide the highest available academic curriculum in a cost effective manner. A separate athletic payment ($100 per season for upper school and $50.00 per season for lower school) will be required for students participating on sports teams.

Lunch:

Children are welcome to bring lunch from home or purchase a meal plan. A form to enroll in the lunch program is available in the front office. The lunch program starts after Labor Day.

Extracurricular Activities:

The school offers many interesting and exciting after school programs as part of its extracurricular activities. Examples include: academic competitions, chess, athletics, cheerleading, and hands-on science program.

School Trips:

Class overnight trips are offered annually for students in grades 6-12 and vary in cost depending on the trip. School trips are not included in tuition. All students are encouraged to attend as these trips supplement the curriculum and are educational in nature.
