Academic Activities
Second Graders Read 30,000 Pages!
Second Grade has reached their goal of reading 30,000 pages! They will be
rewarded with a party after school including pajamas and games. They have
also started a new unit about “How We Organize Ourselves”. Students are
learning about how signs and symbols add structure to societies. They are
setting up an interactive wall of signs and symbols in the hallway by the second
grade classrooms. Come by and test your knowledge!
Thanksgiving Past and Present
The Woodlands Preparatory School students celebrated Thanksgiving?s past and present. Third graders in Ms. Padron?s class invited their Kindergarten Reading Buddies to a Thanksgiving dinner. The 3rd graders wrote invitations, set the table with place cards, and dressed in their „fancy clothes? for the event. Kindergartners in Ms. Sneed?s class sent in their RSVP?s to the 3rd graders. They enjoyed helping the older students set the table..
Middle School Students Enjoyed Their Winter Social
The Middle School student council hosted their winter social last Friday night at the Woodlands Skating Rink. Mr. Smith and Ms. Harpel had a great time watching the camaraderie amongst the 7th and 8th grade students.
A good time was enjoyed by all!
College Acceptances Begin for Woodlands Prep Seniors
Seniors at The Woodlands Preparatory School proudly display the pendant of
their future alma mater. Marjorie Ferrone was accepted at the Naval Academy
and she is very excited that she will be on the university?s rowing team. Sean
Murphy was accepted at the University of Pennsylvania, a member of the Ivy
League. Sean will compete on the swim team for Pennsylvania. He currently is
ranked 5th in the nation for the 200 fly. David Hamer can?t wait to join the
Sooners at the University of Oklahoma, while Katie Freund plans to stay in Texas
attending either Stephen F. Austin or Mary Hardin Baylor. Kiran Sodhi plans to
enter the medical field and was accepted at the University of Houston Honors
College. Kiran has been working on her high school diploma and Associates
degree simultaneously, and will receive her Associate?s degree from HCC in
May, the same week she graduates high school.
High School White Out School Dance
On October 23, The Woodlands Prep High School Student Council hosted their first dance of the year, „The Whiteout Dance?. A “Whiteout” dance is when the students wear white and dance underneath neon lights. The students all agreed that this has been the best dance that this school has ever had, and they thanked the all the members of the high school student council for a “mind-blowing” dance. Students are eagerly waiting for the next school dance!

Holiday Traditions
Students in Kindergarten have been learning about December holiday traditions around the world. This week Miss Joni, Mr. Kerkvliet and Mrs.Vatts did presentations for the class on Hanukkah, Sinterklaas, and Diwali.
